Title: Sending unidentified emails
Post by: BjornBee on August 10, 2010, 08:02:15 am
I have a program called outlook express which I had built an email list for mailings to a large group of people.

I know in getting emails from groups I belong, that they are mass mailings, but you only see "recipient" in the email address, thus hiding all the names or email address from the general membership.

How does one accomplish that. Is it something to do with the "default" selection? If not, can someone explain that also?

I would like to click on the entire listing for sending a mass email to many members, but would not like everyone to see who is also getting it. How do you do that?

Thank you.

You can put one address into the TO: space and put all of the others into the BCC: space and the addresses in the BCC space will not show only the TO will show. So I have usually address the TO to myself when I do this.

If you want to get more fancy you can get Mozilla Thunderbird and the Mass malling ad on to the program and you will be able to have it create a separatly addressed email for each list member. You can also use msword to create a mass mail from a list giving you separately addressed emails but I have only used Thunderbird for this.

Thank you Alfred.

What is the difference in using CC compared to BCC. What do they mean?

Thank you.

I believe you want to do the BCC. That means Blind Copy.  Regular CC I believe would show the address you are sending.

I always sent it TO: myself and BCC: all the other recipients.

CC   =  Carbon  Copy        =  Visible to email recipients
BCC =  Blind Carbon Copy =  Hidden to email recipients.
