Hi From Australia
« on: July 22, 2021, 03:43:34 am »
Hi, my Dad used to keep bees when I was a kid and I used to help until my Hives got destroyed by cows thinking they were great scratching posts. I am thinking about getting back into it again now that I am alot older (55). Never heard or saw of SHB when I was a kid  only had trouble with wax moth and American Foul Brood. It seems like I am a beginner again.

Welcome to Beemaster MickeyJ.  Yes SHB are a problem in many locations. Be happy Varroa Destructor has not invaded your country as well...

Welcome to Beemaster.
For the most part, SHBs are only a problem for weak hives.
If you have a hive slimed by SHBs, be sure to kill the larvae. One slimed hive can produce thousands of SHBs. They can affect a strong hive.
