Mite Bitter Queens
« on: January 21, 2018, 08:08:47 pm »
I am trying to obtain some mite bitter queens, the one?s generated by prude university.  I am having no luck, breeders say they are already sold out.  Can any person lead me to a source for these mite bitter queens?

I have seen the video, the one where a Varroa mite is placed on the hive entrance, the mite is viciously attacked the instant the bee sees the mite.  That bee was tearing, bitting, the mite into pieces, impressive to say the least.

This sounds like the link you're referring to, Van:

Code: [Select]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKw3ETvSXXM
But for anyone interested in this phenomenon, I'd recommend inserting "youtube bees grooming and biting mite" into Google, where a good half-dozen other relevant video links will be returned.

BTW - for anyone wanting to save these - the quickest way is to remove the 's' from https and insert 'ss' before youtube - to read ssyoutube instead.  That will take you to the SaveFromNet website with the subject video link already inserted - all you have to do then is save the video to wherever you want to store it.

But - sometimes SaveFromNet doesn't want to play ball.  If this ever happens, then suggest you use http://www.clipconverter.cc/ instead.  That site will copy a YouTube video directly at the speed of light, and then allow you to download it (in whatever format you want) from their server.

Thanks LJ, I tried and inserted ?ss?. This is on my iPhone, I could not get the video to load, response was ?no such address.?  My iPhone has limitations compared to my computer.  Thanks again Buddy.

Thank you Neill, I have already sent an email.  Are you in Baxter county, that is the county I live in.
I will give you queens if you wish from the mite bitter queens IF I can obtain stock.  I?m a hobbyist breeder 20 hives max, so I have a limited number of queens raised in small batches.  No queen banking.

That is a cool vid of the bees flying off with the SHB.
Perfect!  This is what I need to complement my II breeding program.   The yellow color
Italians mite biting bees should go well with my Cordovan bees.   This will give them more
mite fighting power.   So who has the best yellow color bees of them all since they are like a
co-op?
