All this reminds me of something Dick Drain once told me. Dick was a veteran of the 99th and 390th Bomb Groups and one of the best researchers Ive ever known.
Anyway, Dick used to go along to reunions with his database and answer his fellow veterans questions about which plane they flew and when.
He told me this: "The older they get, the more clearly they remember the things that never happened".
