Venom Collection Device
« on: August 28, 2009, 04:37:12 pm »
Anyone have a source for construction plans of a bee-venom collection device?

Just had a peek around the internet to discover that bee venom is priced higher than gold ounce-for-ounce. I may never be able to get enough honey to profit, but I'm pretty sure I can collect venom with the right tools. :)

I did a little research, and it looks like the maximum amount of venom from each sting is 0.3 mg. To collect an ounce, you'd need about 94,500 stings, with every one at maximum volume. That's a lot of work!

Not sure where to get the equipment, but found this list online:

    1 pc Impulse Generator (VC-101 or VC-4FK)
    1 pc Collector frame (VC-101: 600 cm2 frame; VC-4FK: 1200 cm2 frame)
    1 pc Diaphragm
    3 m Connecting Wires
    1 pc Lure Solution
    1 pc Venom Scraper
    1 pc Warning Sign
    1 pc Owner's Manual

My understanding is that one company out of BC (Canada) pretty much has the corner on the market.
