I have Bill,um not much good mate they traps a few. I tried them years ago but gave up.
Yep..luckily my experience with SHB is very narrow, I'd want to keep
it at that so am regularly in broodchambers poking around.
My outyards don't have them and it has been a while since spotting any
at the homeyard.
The hairy cloth strip traps beetles, it also traps bees... and more bees than I
consider safe practice. The screens and oil idea is well and good for
beetles where they fall in, and yes greater numbers mean more beetles in
oil traps but you do not want them moving above tbe entrance in tbe first
place.. not one. There is why the metal barriers coated with that spray
appeal to me.
For low numbers - and some amusement - hitting individuals with liquid nitrogen
is an excellent solution, one many would baulk at for time and cost.
