dead attendents
« on: May 15, 2009, 08:10:20 pm »
Hi all -- I made first split 3 days back (bees from two hives), adding a queen in a queen cage. Checked just now and the queen is out. Interesting thing is the three attendents (guessing it's them) are dead in there, one of them with a stinger in it's noggin. :)

The hive is quiet, all the bees are still there building brace comb and frame comb. I'm guessing all is well. Any concerns?

Blessings,

it's pretty common for the attendants to get killed.  Usually before the queen gets released.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.
