I have relocated to New Jersey from Florida and want to start beekeeping asap as I am dying without bees to enjoy :(. I have 2 questions for now
1: Could someone tell me when asap is?
I used to do bee removals to get my bees and now I must order to get started because I am travelling a bit for work.
2: When I get the bees how do I keep them in the new hives I am purchasing? I have my common sense assumption but, I need to hear from people who have done this. I saw partial answers to the questions already. I want to go foundationless like I was doing in Florida. I had really good results there when I started beekeeping even though the old school beeks were frowning upon it.
Thank you
Bill

As Soon As Possible. That is usually now. ;)

If you buy packages, you just build your hives and foundationless frames (with whatever guides you want) and put them packages in. If you buy nucs then it's important that the frames at least fit, and you will have to work the large cell combs out of the hive buy moving them to the sides and maybe pulling them in the spring when a lot of combs are empty.
