I bought nucs from Ford's Honey Farm in Newport, NY (about 3 hours from you).  The bees are Carni's, they were good bees.  I got two nucs late (3 July).  One built up strong, the other not so much.  The strong one has made it through the winter (in North Dakota!) in spite of my inexperience. Given my late start, I thought that that was pretty good.  One other good point about the bees I picked up from them - I did mite counts every month and never saw even one!
