I am not cpu literate and the e-machine should be fast but she is running slow. if you can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tom

And is it slow on the internet or everything you do? What type of internet connection are you using? Is it dial up,dsl or cable?

sounds like your 'new' machine has a ton of malware running, or maybe the drive is fragmented
go to
www.filehippo.com
and download and install the following and let them run when prompted
Malwarebytes
CCleaner
Defraggler
also download and enable MS Security Essentials if its not already running
plus go to
www.panicware.com
and download pop-Up Stopper and make sure it is running
