NSW fires
« on: February 13, 2017, 10:49:18 am »
Local news tells of devastating fires happening in NSW.  Wishing all our southern friends the best of luck.  Stay safe!
Winter is coming.

I can't say I hate the government, but I am proudly distrustful of them.

Temps around 110F, low humidity, winds above 40mph and lots of dry feed due to good winter rains are a recipe for disaster.
Im about 4 hrs south of the main fires, we had a change roll through Sat evening dropped the temp to around 90. Had a dry storm come through first that started nearly a dozen fires within 20 miles of us but thankfully got a little rain 20min later that gave enough time for crews to get to most of the fires.
Sunday was when most of the fires further north took off,  we got another change early afternoon, temp dropped from 90 to 60 in minutes.
Strange to be driving in rain with the heater on listening to emergency warnings for places only a few hours drive away.
